Eleanor F. Kurta

Eleanor F. Kurta, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH with her niece at her side.

Eleanor was born in Nashua, NH on April 13, 1922, to John J. Gordon, Sr. and his wife, Mary (Winn). She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Nashua High School with the Class of 1938. She married Stanley J. Kurta on April 14, 1951. Together they shared 55 years prior to his death in October 2006. They had one child, Stanley “Jay” Kurta, Jr. who predeceased her in January 2008.

Eleanor went to work using her secretarial skills directly out of high school. Ultimately she retired from Ingersoll Rand Corporation after 25 years of service as an Executive Secretary. In her younger years she had a number of interests and hobbies, including reading, sewing, knitting and gardening. She also enjoyed golf and she and her husband were long time members of the Nashua Country Club. She had many fond memories of the many good times they shared with friends at the club. Eleanor had recently relocated to Langdon place in Nashua after living for close to 50 years at her Nashua home.

Along with her husband and son, Eleanor was also predeceased by her parents, her two brothers John J. Gordon, Jr. and Robert A. Gordon and her sister, Mary (Betty) Kiver. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am on Thursday, September 29, 2011 in St. Patrick’s Parish, 29 Spring Street, Nashua. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 102 Derry St., Hudson. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions in her name be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.
