Paul P. (Sam the Man) Audet

Paul P. (Sam the Man) Audet, 84, of 7 Colliseum Ave, Nashua passed away at peace and with dignity on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Greenbriar Terrace in Nashua after a brief period of declining health. A resident of Nashua for over 70 years, Sam was born in Montreal, PQ Canada on April 23, 1927, the only son of the late Philip and Victoria (Simard) Audet. He moved to Nashua with his family in 1937 where he attended local schools. Sam worked for many years at Doehla Greeting Cards in Nashua, and then for another 27 years at Batesville Casket in Nashua before retiring in 1991. He was married for several years to Lucille (Doris) Audet, who pre-deceased him in 1975.

Sam was a lover of life who had a unique wit. He enjoyed cars, photography, movies, skating, snowmobiling, and bowling. He cheered for the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Red Sox, NE Patriots, Notre Dame football, and Marilyn Monroe. He excelled at Scrabble, and he loved going to Hampton and Salisbury beaches in the summer. He had a passion for big band music, and enjoyed all family gatherings with his pea pickers, mop squeezers and clam diggers.

Survivors include his nephew, Robert (Rob) Lajoie of Nashua, who was Sam’s constant companion, friend and caretaker for many years; a stepson, Steven Doris and wife Noreen of Wells Beach, Maine; a stepdaughter, Jane (Doris) Keefe and husband, Jim of Newmarket, NH; a brother-in-law Robert Lepine of Temple, NH; several other beloved nieces and nephews, including Celine Jordan of Nashua, Monique Lepine of Potter Valley, CA, Anne Arsenault of Bradford, NH, Lucie Lepine of Durham, NH, Pierre Lepine of Richmond VA, Louise Gaucher of Manchester, NH, and his niece and godchild, Lucie Estberg of Waterloo, Belgium; stepgrandchildren Jason Doris and his wife, Stephanie of Londonderry NH, Amber Doris of Hollis, NH, Micah Doris of Salem, MA; Kate Harfe and her husband Brian of Gainesville, FL, Maggie Sink of Maui, HI and Alex Sink of San Diego, CA; step great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Jillian and Benjamin Doris, and Max and Huck Harfe; lifelong friends Rex and Moe Gaudette of Nashua NH, Helen Munson of Hudson NH, and the Hirsch family of Pelham NH and Alaska. Sam was predeceased by four sisters, Mrs. Lucie (Audet) Caron, Mrs. Jean (Audet) Ackerman, Mrs. Carmel (Audet) Lajoie, and Mrs. Marguerite (Audet) Lepine.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Friday June 3, 2011 from 6-9 PM at the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua NH. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on June 4, 2011 at St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W. Hollis St., Nashua, NH. at 9:30 AM. Everyone is invited to meet at the Church.
