Fernando L. Campos
Fernando L. Campos, 94, of Litchfield, NH died Thursday April 7, 2011 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
He was born December 5, 1916 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of the late Sergio and Antonia (Sabater) Campos.
Fernando was the loving husband of Rosa (Semlinger) Campos of Litchfield, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Fernando was educated in Puerto Rico, New Hampshire, and New York where he earned degrees in bookkeeping and business administration.
He was an Army veteran of both WWII and Vietnam and received many campaign and commendation medals for his honorable service. Fernando was raised as a Master Mason in November of 1961 and later became a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason at Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Valley of Nashua. He “raised” both his sons to the degree of Master Mason. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0003 and DAV Commanders Club.
Besides his loving wife Rosa, survivors include two sons Carlos E. Campos of Hudson, Fernando A. Campos, and a daughter Sandy Cote. Six grandchildren, Alexander Campos, Devin Campos, Casey Campos, Joshua Lessard, Jennifer Marcolongo (Lessard), and Amanda Lessard as well as one great-grandson, Jaden Marcolongo. Also one niece, Carmen Tossas of Puerto Rico.
Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday April 10th from 2pm-4pm with a Masonic Service (open to all) at 3pm in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST. IN HUDSON. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday April 11th at 2pm in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. All may meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flower the family encourages donations be made in Fernando’s loving memory to the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, 42 Chestnut St., Nashua, NH 03061.
