Deborah (Piercy) Franco
Deborah (Piercy) Franco, loving wife of John F. Franco II of Amherst, NH, mother of Daniel L. Burleson of Winter Springs, Florida, and daughter of Bernice R. Piercy of Nashua and the late John W. Piercy, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 7, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Also dear to her heart was the U.S. Army, in which she proudly served both active duty and in the reserves for 21 years. Deborah began her army career at the Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, and retired from the reserves while serving with the 399 Combat Support Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts.
Among her civilian nursing posts, she cared for the elderly at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, many of whom she grew to care for deeply. She enjoyed traveling, the ocean, crocheting, sudoku, gardening, and her golden retriever, Annie.
In addition to being predeceased by her father, she was predeceased by aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her husband, son and mother, Deborah is also survived by her siblings Mary-Ellen Wells of Florida, Leslie Piercy of North Carolina, Timothy (Laura) Piercy of New Hampshire, Martha Piercy of New Hampshire, Meghan Piercy of Vermont, and a very close childhood friend, Eileen (McMahon) Rodier of New Hampshire. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins – all very dear to her.
Deborah’s family would like to thank the staff of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and Mass General Hospital for all their kindness, expertise, and care for our beloved Deborah – a fine soldier to the very end.
