Friday night crash claims life of Dracut man
DRACUT, Massachusetts — A local man sustained injuries that were ultimately fatal in a single-vehicle crash shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, police said.
Chief Peter Bartlett identified the victim as Michael Carroll, 25, of Dracut. Bartlett said crews were called to the area of Crosby Road and Sue Ann Drive, a neighborhood in the northern end of town between Mammoth Road and Bridge Street, by 911 callers reporting a car had crashed into a tree and sustained heavy damage.
Upon the arrival of police, firefighters, Trinity EMS and Lowell General Hospital paramedics, two passersby had removed Carroll from the vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, and were rendering first aid, Bartlett said.
First responders took over providing medical treatment and transported Carroll to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Carroll was the only occupant of the Equinox, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Bartlett said Crosby Road was closed to traffic for roughly three hours while police conducted an on-scene investigation.
