Krowinski nominated next Vermont speaker of the House
MONTPELIER, Vt. – The Vermont State House Democratic Caucus has nominated Representative Jill Krowinski (D-Burlington) to serve as Vermont Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 2021-22 legislative biennium. Krowinski currently serves as House Majority Leader, a role she has held since 2017.
Representative Krowinski will be joined in the House leadership by Representative Emily Long (D-Newfane), who was elected House Majority Leader, Representative Mike McCarthy (D-St. Albans City), who was elected Vermont House Majority Whip, Representative Martin LaLonde (D-South Burlington), who was elected Assistant House Majority Leader for Strategy and Development, Representative Marybeth Redmond (D-Essex), who was elected Assistant House Majority Leader for Communications, and Representative John Bartholomew (D-Hartland), who was re-elected At-Large Member of the Rules Committee.
The Vermont State House Democratic Caucus Leadership Election took place virtually on Saturday, December 5th and was streamed live via YouTube, due to the current safety restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vermont House Democrats have held a majority in the House for over 15 years.
