PELHAM — Police are asking the public for assistance in locating a Boston man who is considered a suspect in a recent spate of fraudulent credit card transactions — including a $734 purchase at a Pelham liquor store.

Police said they have issued a warrant for Luis Rivera, 29, who is alleged to have made that purchase and another one in Massachusetts using information he allegedly gleaned from a credit card belonging to a Pelham woman.

Police said Rivera is accused of using an app on his phone that contained the victim’s credit card information in order to make the alleged purchases.

The suspect was seen on video surveillance using his smartphone to pay for the liquor, police said. Detectives investigating the incident, which occurred in January, were able to identify the suspect and trace the other location where the same card information was used.

Arrest warrants were issued for 3 counts of credit card fraud, police said, adding that they have made several attempts to contact the suspect, but “is not responding back to detectives.”

Anyone who may know Rivera’s whereabouts is asked to contact the department’s Criminal Bureau at 635-2411.
