(Wall Street Journal photo) Numerous police officers arrive at the scene of the mass shooting at a downtown Louisville bank this morning. Five are reported dead, eight others injuried.

Police on Monday confirmed multiple people died after an active shooter entered a bank in downtown Louisville, according to the website of the Louisville Courier Journal newspaper.

Officers responded to the Old National Bank on Main Street around 8:30 a.m. where they encountered active gunshots, Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey said during a media briefing at 10:20 a.m.

Five people were confirmed dead and eight others were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, including two LMPD officers, according to CNN.
