Lions Club seeking nominations for Teacher of the Year award and college scholarship candidates

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Apr 7, 2023

NASHUA — As it continues to observe the centennial anniversary of its charter by Lions Clubs International, the Nashua Lions Club is seeking nominations for two of the many projects and programs it has launched over those 100 years.

One of them — the annual Teacher of the Year award — has an April 15 deadline for anyone who wishes to nominate a Nashua teacher for the award.

Both public and private school teachers are eligible for nomination.

To nominate a teacher, simply send a letter describing the teacher and why you feel he or she deserves to be Teacher of the Year.

Letters can be emailed to NashuaLionsClub@gmail.com or sent via U.S. Mail to Nashua Lions Club, P. O. Box 3361, Nashua, NH, 03061-3361, Attention: Teacher of the Year.

As for its annual scholarship program, the club will be awarding $6,000 in scholarships to any high school senior who lives in Nashua, attends a Nashua school, and will graduate this spring.

Applicants must provide proof of acceptance from a post-secondary institution that offers four-year or two-year programs, including vocational and trade schools.

Interested students must complete a Nashua Lions Club Scholarship Application form, which can be picked up at Nashua High School South, Nashua High School North, Bishop Guertin High School and the Academy of Science and Design.

Forms can also be downloaded from the Lions Club’s website, www.nashualionsclub.org.

Completed applications must be returned to the club by Friday, April 28. They can be emailed to nashualionsclub@gmail.com or sent via U.S. Mail to Nashua Lions Club, Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 3361, Nashua, NH 03061-3361.
