Amherst woman, 76, killed in Milford crash
MILFORD — A head-on crash involving a compact, multi-purpose vehicle and a Freightliner tractor trailer rig on Route 101 Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a 76-year-old Amherst resident, police said.
Ana Aguilera was driving the car, a 2013 Ford C-Max, west on Route 101, and was approaching the Osgood Road overpass when her vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and into the path of the eastbound tractor-trailer, according to Capt. Craig Frye.
The truck driver, identified as Nicholas Edwards, 35, of Lebanon, Oregon, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua for treatment of injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
Aguilera sustained multiple, life-threatening injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene, Frye said.
The crash, which occurred just after 8:30 a.m., drew Milford police, firefighters, medical personnel to the scene. They were assisted by state police troopers, along with police from Amherst and Wilton, and crews from the state Department of Transportation.
A section of Route 101 between Route 13 and the Osgood Road overpass was closed for several hours in both directions, to allow police to conduct an on-scene investigation and remove the vehicles from the road.
Frye said the crash remains under investigation, and asks anyone who may have additional information to contact Milford police at
249-0630.
