Man wanted in Manchester arrested in Maine, is freed on bail, returns to Manchester, gets arrested on January charges
Kevin Voisine, 29, no fixed address
MANCHESTER — Kevin Voisine, the 29-year-old local man with no current fixed address who has been wanted since Jan. 26 in connection with the assault of a woman and the theft of her child is back in custody, police said.
Voisine, who also has a separate, ongoing drug-possession case stemming from his arrest in Nashua in April 2021, was to be arraigned Tuesday on two counts of second-degree assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the Jan. 26 incident.
No update had been made to his case file as of Tuesday afternoon.
In the Nashua case, Voisine was out on bail after being arraigned on the drug charge, and had been scheduled for a dispositional conference this past November. But according to his case summary, he failed to appear at the hearing, prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
It appears from his case summary that the Nashua charge will be heard along with the Manchester charges.
Last week, Voisine was arrested in Maine, but police didn’t name the city or town. He was charged with fugitive from justice, based on the Manchester warrant, but was then freed on cash bail.
As for the Manchester incident, police said officers responded to a Varney Street residence, where they found a woman who had been assaulted. The woman told police the alleged assailant, later identified as Voisine, had taken her 5-month-old child.
Police launched a widespread search for the child, during which they learned that Voisine had been at several addresses on the west side of the city.
Officers eventually located a vehicle at a Bismark Street residence, which they determined Voisine had been driving.
They then found the child inside the residence, police said, adding that he or she was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated.
