MANCHESTER — A skirmish that began in an Old Granite Street bar called The Goat early Saturday morning soon spilled out onto the street, followed moments later by the sound of multiple gunshots that sent everyone scrambling for safety.

But one of those present, a young father named Timothy Pouliot, crumpled to the ground, where he lay as first-responders rushed in and administered emergency life-saving measures.

But despite those efforts, Pouliot, 24, would be pronounced deceased a short time later, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds allegedly inflicted by 22-year-old Salem resident John Delee.

Now, as people close to Pouliot face the task of planning his services and breaking the news to his toddler-age daughter, Delee is in jail charged with second-degree murder, which accuses him of “recklessly causing the death of Timothy Pouliot by shooting him with a firearm,” according to authorities.

As of Sunday afternoon, Delee was scheduled for arraignment today in Hillsborough County Superior Court North. It’s possible he will opt to waive formal arraignment and request a bail hearing, which could take place today or later this week.

Meanwhile, a woman who describes Pouliot as “my very close friend” has launched a GoFundMe account on behalf of Pouliot’s mother, Michelle Pouliot Bilodeau, in order to give Pouliot “a funeral he would appreciate and cherish,” Eliza Waid, the organizer, wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Waid also wrote that Pouliot’s family and friends “would love to help his daughter to succeed in her life, and have a big future ahead, because Timothy’s main priority was always to make sure his little girl was safe, OK, and (able) to have a great life.”

As of Sunday afternoon, roughly $4,500 had been raised, nearly half of the $10,000 goal.

To view the account and to make a donation, go to www.gofundme.com and search “Timothy Pouliot.” A second account, launched by his brother, Brendon Pouliot, will also come up.

It was just before 12:50 a.m. Saturday when police, firefighters and ambulance personnel were called to Old Granite Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a man, later identified as Pouliot, lying on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Manchester police and representatives of the Attorney General’s office said later Saturday that it appeared a dispute had taken place inside The Goat, at 50 Old Granite St., and soon moved outside.

Several videos posted on social media show an argument taking place in the middle of the street, and a man believed to be Pouliot appears to punch a large man in the face.

The large man, later identified as Delee, who is believed to be 6 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing in excess of 300 pounds, appears to fire several shots, and Pouliot can be seen falling to the ground.

By daylight Saturday, a large area covering a city block was taped off while police processed the scene. Pouliot’s covered body remained at the scene until mid-morning as detectives searched for, and recovered, evidence.

Once they concluded the on-scene investigation, a representative of the state Medical Examiner’s office arrived on the scene. A short time later, a hearse from Phaneuf Funeral Home arrived and transported Pouliot from the scene.

The investigation remains active, police said. They ask anyone who witnessed the series of events leading up to the dispute in the bar, or the confrontation outside, to contact police Detective Morgan Lovejoy at 792-5529, or call the department’s Crimeline at 624-4040.
