MANCHESTER — Roughly 42 hours after he was arrested for allegedly screaming at people and pointing a gun at one of them, then forcing police to bring in a SWAT team by holing himself up in a Myrtle Street apartment building, 30-year-old Tyler Campbell was back at the same residence allegedly “acting erratically,” including yelling at police from an upstairs window, according to police.
While watching the second incident unfold around 10 a.m. Saturday, neighbors of the 381 Myrtle St. building gathered in disbelief that the suspect, later identified as Campbell, was released on personal recognizance bail following his first arrest, in which he was charged with felony criminal threatening with a firearm and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Some of the neighbors who spoke at the scene expressed concern that Campbell was out and worried he would be released on bail again. They noted how quiet and crime-free the neighborhood usually is, adding that they are disturbed by two such incidents less than two days apart.
The first incident involving Campbell occurred around 4:30 Thursday afternoon, when police were called to 381 Myrtle St. for a report of a man with a gun.
Witnesses told police a man, later identified as Campbell, was holding a gun and screaming, and when confronted by one of them, he allegedly pointed the gun in their direction. The man then went inside the apartment building.

Arriving officers reportedly could see the man and hear him yelling from a second-floor apartment. Given the serious nature of the incident, a perimeter was set up, and a negotiator attempted to make contact with Campbell. As a precaution, officers asked residents of neighboring buildings to shelter in place.
Police also requested the department’s SWAT team respond to the scene.
Campbell allegedly ignored the officer’s commands to leave the building, and allegedly threatened the police while on the phone with the negotiator.
Eventually, at around 7 p.m., Campbell walked outside, at which point he was taken into custody. A search of the residence reportedly turned up multiple firearms.
Campbell was booked on the charges and later released.
Come Saturday, however, Campbell was allegedly back at the Myrtle Street residence, in violation of one of the conditions of the bail order issued on Thursday.
Police again set up a perimeter, to both keep Campbell contained and to keep bystanders from getting too close to the scene.
The department’s new armored vehicle was called in, and SWAT team members set it up in front of the residence to shield officers in the event of possible gunfire.
Campbell was charged with one count each of violation of bail and stalking, police said. Chief Allen Aldenberg said further investigation will determine whether additional charges are filed.
Campbell’s case summary filed in Hillsborough County Superior Court North doesn’t list a date for his arraignment on the two newer charges, nor does it indicate whether bail was set, or if Campbell was ordered held on preventive detention pending arraignment, which given the holiday weekend would likely take place today in the Manchester court.
