NASHUA — State and local authorities on Friday identified the man killed in a Friday night shooting on Amherst Street as Joseph Bisson, 57, whose address and town of residence wasn’t provided.

Gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen caused Bisson’s death, and the manner of death is ruled a homicide, according to Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg, who issued a report after conducting an autopsy on Bisson’s body.

Attorney General John Formella said in a statement that investigators, at this point in the investigation, believe they have identified all involved parties, and they determined there is no threat to the general public.

Nashua police are “actively investigating all of the circumstances leading up to this incident and the sequence of events,” Formella wrote in the statement.

Anyone with any information on the incident, particularly Bisson’s whereabouts and activities in the hours preceding the shooting, are asked to contact the Nashua police Crime Line at 589-1665.

City property records identify the address of the property as 56-56C Amherst St., and list the owner as Paul E. Caya III. He purchased it about four years ago, according to the records.

Authorities haven’t said whether they have any suspects in mind, nor have they elaborated on a possible motive at this time.

First-responders were called to the residence at about 9 p.m. Friday for a report of a shooting, and a short time later firefighters and an ambulance left the scene and police began cordoning off the area with yellow crime scene tape.

The house sits across Amherst Street from the entrance to Holman Stadium.

Soon after their arrival, police and a K9 team approached a door on the left side of the building and announced they were making entry. Police could be heard using a ramming device to break down the door, at which time they entered the building.

As the officers proceeded through the dark building, flashlights could be seen, indicating they were searching the building. After about 30 minutes they exited the building, and then returned a second time with a K9 searching the yard and a large garage. No one was found at that time.

A short time later a representative of the state Medical Examiner’s office arrived at the scene. They could be seen entering the building, and they appeared to be taking photos on the porch and near the front door of the building.

A neighbor told a reporter that the property manager has been having ongoing issues with people trying to sleep on the porch, but it wasn’t immediately known whether those issues may be connected to the shooting.
