Early morning crash in Pelham leads to DUI arrest
PELHAM — A local man whose age wasn’t provided by police is free on personal recognizance bail with a December court date following his arrest early Sunday morning on charges that include driving under the influence, police said.
Matthew Poff, believed to be a Pelham resident, was also charged with two counts of criminal mischief following the single-vehicle crash, which occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Lannan Road.
Poff is due in Salem district court on Dec. 5 for arraignment on the charges, police said.
Police, fire and medical crews responded to reports of a crash on Lannan Road, and upon arrival located the 2013 Subaru Impreza on the front lawn of 50 Lannan Road, with extensive front-end damage.
Police determined the vehicle left the road and traveled about 150 feet before striking a granite post, which broke into two pieces upon impact.
The vehicle then crossed the road and came to rest on the lawn at 50 Lannon Road, police said.
Poff was uninjured, police said, and he was the only occupant of the vehicle.
