NASHUA — When officers and detectives who responded the evening of Nov. 10 to calls reporting multiple people shot on Pine Street near Lamoine arrested a suspect a short time later, they charged him with one count of first-degree assault, but indicated more charges were forthcoming.

Come the following Monday, the suspect, Wilfredo Diaz, 27, of 3 Sapling Circle, was facing an additional six charges, bringing to seven the total number of offenses filed against him.

They include three counts of first-degree assault, Class A felonies; two counts of reckless conduct, Class B felonies, along with one count each of falsifying physical evidence and felonious use of a firearm, also Class B felonies.

Ordered jailed on preventive detention following his arraignment date, Diaz was granted a bail hearing, which is scheduled for Dec. 20 in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

His next court date after that, barring any changes that could come up, is for a dispositional conference on Jan. 25, according to his case summary filed in court.

Meanwhile, other than the fact they’re adult men, no information has come forth regarding their current conditions or hospitalization status.

Police said at the time of the incident that both men were transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. One of them was subsequently transferred by DHART medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.

The alleged shootings and the aftermath created a hectic scene in and around a handful of residences in close proximity to the one at the center of activity.

Within minutes of arriving, first-due police units called for backup and requested detectives to the scene. Also responding was the department’s Bearcat, the armored vehicle typically utilized by special operations personnel and SWAT teams.

At one point, officers ordered several people, including adults carrying children, to exit the house where the alleged shooting took place and walk back toward the officers. The people evacuated were brought away from the active scene, but it did not appear anyone was taken into custody.

An initial investigation revealed that the incident appeared to start as an altercation between individuals at the intersection of Pine and Lemoine streets.
