Milford police continue to investigate sex-assault case following arrest of 83-year-old suspect
James Murphy, 83, of Milford
MILFORD — Charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of simple assault, Milford resident James Murphy is free on personal recognizance bail pending his next court appearance, a date for which hasn’t been provided.
Milford police, in a brief statement with few details, said officers arrested Murphy, 83, earlier this month following a roughly month-long investigation into allegations that Murphy had sexually assaulted a child under the age of 16.
Murphy knows the alleged victim, police said, adding that the alleged attacks aren’t considered random.
They didn’t say when or where the alleged assaults occurred, or indicate whether Murphy and the alleged victim are related.
The investigation is apparently ongoing, as police have asked anyone who may have any information on this case, or knows of other incidents in which Murphy may have been involved, to contact Sgt. Dan Campbell at 249-0630.
