MERRIMACK — A woman whose identity has yet to be released sustained injuries that were considered serious, but not life-threatening, when the car she was operating left Executive Park Drive, struck the side of a tractor-trailer and collided with a sign post before coming to rest at the edge of a wooded area.

Merrimack firefighters, medical personnel and police were called around 9 p.m. to Executive Park Drive near the southbound Everett Turnpike on-ramp.

First responders upon arrival located a heavily damaged vehicle with one person entrapped. Firefighters used hydraulic cutting and spreading tools to remove the car’s drivers side doors in order to gain access to the injured woman.

They also cut brush from the passenger side of the car for additional access.

Crews worked for about 20 minutes to free the woman from the vehicle. She was then transported to an area hospital.

An initial investigation indicates the car was traveling south on Executive Park Drive and crossed into the northbound side of the road, where it hit the truck and post. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Merrimack police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
