Gavin Huntoon, 15, Hudson crash victim

HUDSON — Calling hours are scheduled for this afternoon at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home for Gavin Huntoon, the 15-year-old Alvirne High student fatally injured in a collision involving a dirt bike and pickup truck on Sunday.

The calling hours run from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 50 Ferry St. Burial will be private.

A celebration of life will take place tomorrow, Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. at Hudson VFW Post 5791, 15 Bockes Road.

Huntoon, described by his family as “one of a kind” whose “personality, wit and humor was unmatched,” was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The passenger on the Kawasaki dirt bike, who as of Tuesday hadn’t been publicly identified, was taken to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester and later flown to a Boston area hospital. His injuries were described as serious; an update on his condition wasn’t immediately available.

Within hours of the crash, a memorial that included flowers, an athletic jersey, a basketball, a football, handwritten notes in plastic sleeves and one note written on what appears to be a piece of the dirt bike began taking shape at the scene along the guard rail on the south side of Wason Road.

The crash occurred shortly after noontime along a sweeping curve near 45 Wason Road, roughly halfway between Cin-Fre Drive and Empire Circle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made “in Gavin’s loving memory” to the Alvirne Touchdown Club, c/o Alvirne High School, 200 Derry Road, Hudson, 03051.

The family added that “in Gavin’s spirit for loving sneakers so much, we ask people to please wear their favorite pair of sneakers to the viewing hours at the funeral home.”
