HUDSON — A collision involving a 2017 Harley Davidson and a 2010 Hyundai Elantra closed a portion of Derry Road Tuesday evening and caused serious injuries to the individual operating the motorcycle, police said.
Neither operator was identified by police, nor did they provide their ages or genders.
Police, along with Hudson firefighters and ambulance personnel, were called at about 6 p.m. to the area of 297 Derry Road, just north of Cutler Road, for a report of a collision between a sedan and a motorcycle.
Medics attended to the injured motorcyclist, who police said wasn’t wearing a helmet. He or she was flown by medical helicopter to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment of the injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai was tended to at the scene, then declined any further medical treatment, police said.
The initial investigation indicates the motorcycle was headed north on Derry Road, while the Hyundai was traveling south.
As the driver of the Hyundai attempted to turn left into the parking lot of 297 Derry Road, the motorcyclist collided with the car, resulting in significant damage to the rear of the car, police said.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the motorcycle, police added.
A section of Derry Road was closed to traffic for a time to allow members of the Hudson Police Crash Reconstruction Team to conduct an on-scene investigation.
Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to call Master Patrol Officer Allison Cummings at 886-6011.
