Souhegan Valley Chorus invites interested singers to upcoming fall season kickoff event

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Sep 4, 2022

MILFORD – Vocalists interested in joining the Souhegan Valley Chorus, an unauditioned community chorus directed by Jennifer Erdody and accompanied by Kimberly Vars Whitehead, are invited to attend the group’s season-opening meeting and rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The rehearsal, to be held at the First Congregational Church of Milford, begins at 6:30 p.m. with registration, followed by practice at 7 p.m.

The rehearsal is one of two for the fall season that are open for new members “to visit and see what SVC is all about,” according to chorus spokeswoman Deirdre Shubert.

The chorus, whose members come from towns in the Greater Souhegan Valley and range in age from high school to senior citizens, possess “a wide range of abilities and experience,” according to Shubert.

SVCís weekly rehearsals take place September through December, and are held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 at the First Congregational Church.

SVC performs a wide variety of choral music from classical to modern day pieces and puts on two concerts each year, and closes the fall season with its annual Holiday Concert in December.

The chorus can also be heard singing at various local community events throughout the year.
