Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services launches resource guide

By Staff | Sep 2, 2022

NASHUA – Access to services is paramount to being able to address substance use in the Greater Nashua Public Health Region. In observance of Recovery Month, the City of Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services has officially launched the “Community Connections Resource Guide”, an online guide for behavioral health resources.

Each September, Recovery Month works to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and community members who make recovery in all its forms possible. Recovery Month serves as an opportunity to improve the lives of those affected by mental health and substance use disorders by raising awareness and educating communities about the effective services that are available.

“As members of the community, we recognize that addiction is a disease and mental health issues are complex. We encourage you to reach out and get help as early as possible,” says Lisa Vasquez, Behavioral Health Strategist at the City of Nashua DPHCS.

This resource guide provides updated contact information for local prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery supports. The four categories within the resource guide include immediate services, general health services, mental health services, and substance misuse services.

To access substance use disorder (SUD) services, dial 2-1-1 for entry into The New Hampshire (NH) Doorway program, the statewide initiative that provides comprehensive addiction services to residents experiencing substance use disorder. The program helps to facilitate access to treatment and offers ongoing monitoring as needed. The Nashua Doorway is located at 268 Main Street in Nashua and its hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. People in crisis, can also access support by dialing 9-8-8.
