AMHERST — A young man with an “adventurous spirit” who loved fashion, his Jordan 5 sneakers and “all genres of music” ranging from The Doors and Red Hot Chili Peppers to hip hop artists Nas and Biggie, Chandler Thomas Leo was looking forward to enrolling at the Gemological Institute of America and building a career in the family jewelry business, according to members of his family.

Those family members, along with a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, are now preparing to say goodbye to the 17-year-old Souhegan High School student who lost his life last week in a single-vehicle crash on Boston Post Road.

Police said at the time that the vehicle Leo was driving was headed north on Boston Post Road when it left the road and crashed into a tree in front of 344 Boston Post Road, near the intersection of Cricket Corner Road.

Leo, who was alone in the car, was extricated by firefighters from the wreckage and later pronounced deceased.

Calling hours are scheduled for this evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 537 Union St. in Manchester, according to an obituary posted on the center’s website.

The family is asking everyone who attends to wear their favorite band shirt and “fun socks” to honor Leo.

A funeral service will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester.
