Santa's Village, Jefferson NH

JEFFERSON — The 51-year-old Santa’s Village employee who investigators say was seriously injured when he fell off a roller coaster while it was in motion Saturday has yet to be identified, as the investigation continues.

Officials said only that the man fell from a platform while operating the roller coaster, and that he sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

They didn’t say how far the man fell, or where he landed. The ride was shut down, and the area around it was cleared by other employees while they awaited the arrival of first-responders and medical personnel.

Representatives of the state Fire Marshal’s office were called in and are handling the investigation, officials said. They said they are working with investigators from the state’s Board of Tramway and Amusement Ride Safety, which establishes, and enforces, safety regulations with which amusement parks and carnivals, as well as the state’s ski industry, must comply.

Santa’s Village reopened Sunday, but the roller coaster where the man was injured remained closed.
