Latino-American Festival highlights multicultural amity abounds

By LORETTA JACKSON - Telegraph Correspondent | Aug 20, 2022

NASHUA – The music of a lively band, Los Arrasadores de la Sierra, and other performers filled the air with tunes as the aroma of the mostly spicy cuisine of a dozen or more Latin countries wafted through the air during the recent Latino-American Festival 2022, presented by St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Parish on West Hollis Street in Nashua.

“Today was a great day,” said Adrian Amador, an event organizer, as he traversed the church’s parking lot venue. “We want to thank everyone who made such a wonderful event possible.”

The gathering on Aug. 14 of attendees from Nashua, Merrimack, Manchester and elsewhere drew participants pleased to share the culture, food, music and dance of their home countries – Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela and El Salvador, along with Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and others.

Rice flecked with jalapenos, beef empanadas, guacamole wraps and other tasty delights filled the paper plates and tummies of young and old.

Showcased also were numerous local enterprises including Nashua Community College, whose bilingual representatives chatted with current and potential students.

Nearby, staffers from Legal Form Solutions, LLC, of Nashua, gifted visitors with chilled bottles of water and cookies.

The personnel of LFS provide translation, interpreting and notary services, along with assistance in navigating legal forms.

Meanwhile, other booths and tables were manned with staff representing a diverse array of products and services.

Dozens visited with reps from WJ Creations, a Nashua business specializing in customized T-shirts, mugs, tumblers and other printables. In addition, a Nashua Police Mobile Command Unit drew the curious to enter for a police-escorted tour.

Thanks went out from organizer Amador and others to the festival’s many supporters and sponsors, including El Paisano MiniMarket, LaCroix Brothers Lawn Care and Euddy Jewelry, all of Nashua, plus Morin’s Landscaping in Hollis and others.

Kudos also graced donors of raffle prizes who contributed a 36-inch Blackstone griddle, a Ring video doorbell camera, a Chromebook 14-inch laptop and other tantalizers.
