Hollis to host inaugural National Night Out events

HOLLIS – On Tuesday, Aug. 2, neighborhoods throughout the town of Hollis are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 39th annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

• Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts;

• Strengthen community spirit and police/community partnerships and;

• To further strengthen the town of Hollis as a safe and thriving community.

Starting as 6 p.m. on Aug. 2, the Hollis Police Department, through sponsorship of the Hollis Police Benevolent Assoc and in partnership with the Hollis Recreation Commission, the Hollis Social Library and the Hollis Fire Department, will host its inaugural National Night Out event. The event will be on the field behind the Lawrence Barn, and will feature fun activities like bounce houses, music and a movie night, in addition to a cookout and other treats. There is no cost to attend the event.

“This is a night for our community to come together and stand for unity and he promotion of safety and awareness,” said Hollis Police Chief Joseph Hoebeke. “As we know, police/community partnerships are vital in creating a safe environment for our residents, while helping us continue the trend of Hollis being the safest mid-size community in the state of New Hampshire.”
