MANCHESTER — The 34-year-old woman sought by police in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Manchester man has been arrested, according to police Chief Allen Aldenberg and Attorney General John M. Formella.
Boston police late Saturday took into custody Stephanie Beard, for whom Manchester officials had issued an arrest warrant on one count each of second-degree murder and theft, according to officials.
The theft charge accuses Beard of stealing a silver Subaru Impreza owned by the alleged victim, identified as 71-year-old John Glennon. Beard allegedly fled the scene in Glennon’s vehicle, and was last seen driving south on I-293 in Manchester.
Police said Glennon’s body was discovered in his apartment at 323 Franklin St. around 8 a.m. Friday, and they believe he was killed sometime in the overnight hours.
An autopsy conducted later Saturday determined that Glennon’s death was caused by “multiple sharp force injuries,” and that the manner of death is homicide.

Police said Boston police arrested Beard on a fugitive from justice charge. She was jailed over the weekend pending today’s scheduled arraignment in Boston Municipal Court, South Boston Division.
New Hampshire authorities will likely seek Beard’s extradition at some point after she is arraigned in Boston. If successful, she will be returned to Manchester for arraignment on the two charges.
Police didn’t elaborate on the relationship, if any, between Beard and Glennon. Nor did they offer a possible motive for the alleged stabbing.
Glennon lived in an apartment at the Carpenter Center, a former “grand hotel” known as “The Carpenter.” Some years ago, the mid-rise building was converted into nearly 100 apartments for people age 62 and older or physically disabled people of any age.
Beard, meanwhile, has a handful of arrests on her criminal record, according to cases on file at Hillsborough County Superior Court North in Manchester.

It appears that one of the cases, which stems from Beard’s November arrest on drug possession and resisting arrest or detention, is ongoing, with a plea and sentencing hearing scheduled for June 8.
Back in October 2015, according to another court file, Beard was charged with robbery and drug possession in Manchester, but both charges were dismissed without prejudice in January 2016.
Later that month, court documents show, Beard was charged again with robbery and drug possession, which may indicate she was re-arrested on the same charges that had been dismissed.
Beard, according to the files, reached a plea agreement in September 2016, in which she plead guilty to both charges in exchange for suspended jail or prison terms, a probationary period that has since ended, and that she enter counseling and remain on good behavior.
