HOLLIS — Police Chief Joseph Hoebeke said he and members of the department are “excited to announce” that it has been selected the recipient of a $1,000 grant from Walmart as part of the company’s community grant program.

The program, Hoebeke said, “focuses on meeting community needs by providing grants to local organizations.”

The department plans to use the grant to help fund “a number of community outreach programs and initiatives, like the annual National Night Out Event, which will be held in August,” Hoebeke said.

“These programs are critical in helping the Hollis Police Department build and strengthen mutual respect, cooperation, and trust between agency members and the community.”

Hoebeke recently met with Richard Suarez, the manager of the Walmart on Route 101A in Amherst, to accept the grant.

On behalf of the department, Hoebeke expressed gratitude to Suarez and Walmart’s Giving initiative. The company “has continuously demonstrated their commitment to giving back to communities in New Hampshire and across the country.”
