MANCHESTER — Former Amherst resident Tyler Berry, the ex-police officer who served on the Bedford and Londonderry departments in his relatively brief career, has agreed to enter guilty pleas to two of the charges he faced in connection with the 2019 crash that claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman.

Berry, now 29, who suffered comparatively minor injuries in the head-on crash, was later arrested at a Manchester hospital on charges including felony-level aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Several additional charges followed as Berry’s case proceeded in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

According to the notice of intent to plead guilty filed on Berry’s behalf by his lawyer, Attorney Charles Keefe of Nashua, Berry agreed to plead guilty to two of the charges — manslaughter and falsifying physical evidence — in exchange for sentences of 10-20 years in State Prison on the manslaughter charge, with either 2 1/2 or 3 years suspended, and a term of 3 1/2 to 7 years, all suspended, on the falsifying charge.

The agreement was reached under a so-called capped plea arrangement, meaning the prosecution and defense will each recommend a set of sentencing terms to the judge, who will ultimately decide the length and other terms of Berry’s sentence.

That sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday, May 6, in the Manchester court.
