Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps to host NESBA competition

NASHUA – The Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps, based in Nashua, New Hampshire, will host the Spartans Winter Invitational, a competition for indoor percussion ensembles and winter guards, on Feb. 19, 2022. The Winter Invitational is part of the New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) winter competition season and will feature eight indoor percussion ensembles and 12 winter guards from high schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well as the Spartans Indoor Percussion, the only independent percussion ensemble in New England. The Spartans is a nationally ranked drum and bugle corps, which placed first in Open Class in 2019, the most recent full Drum Corps International (DCI) season due to COVID-19. It was the Spartans’ sixth World Championship.
“We’ve had a great response to our inaugural Indoor Percussion ensemble, and we’re excited to host a NESBA winter competition for the first time,” said Paul G. LaFlamme Jr., president of the Spartans. “It’s vital to give young people a place to practice and perform their music, particularly during the winter when some schools don’t offer a competitive music program. We look forward to demonstrating what we’ve been able to accomplish through hard work and commitment in our first year.”
The Spartans Winter Invitational is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information about the event or the Spartans 2022 DCI season, please visit www.spartansdbc.org or call 603-883-0523 Ext. 224.
