State COVID testing site in Nashua drawing huge response, resulting in long wait times, temporary closures

NASHUA — While exact numbers weren’t immediately available, the state COVID-19 PCR testing site in Nashua — one of several “pop-up” sites statewide organized by ClearChoiceMD Urgent Care — appears to be the busiest, judging from the seemingly endless lines of vehicles often seen in and around the site.

A partnership of state officials and ClearChoiceMD, the drive-through sites have also been set up in Newington, at the Fox Run Mall; in Claremont, at the River Valley Community College; along with a walk-up site in Manchester next to the Hunt Memorial Pool on Maple Street.

Nashua’s site is in a St. Joseph Hospital parking lot at 261 Lake St., which is on the south side of the hospital’s main building.

The popularity of the site has slowed traffic along Lake Street on occasion, as the lines of vehicles stretch out of the lot at times, forcing drivers to queue up on the sides of Lake Street.

The heavy turnouts have also caused the site to “hit maximum testing capacity” at times, forcing a temporary shutdown of the site.

The sites are typically open seven days a week from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

While officials said the turnaround time for receiving results is typically within 48 hours of 5 p.m. on the day the test is performed, the results can now take up to 72 hours due to the high volume of tests performed.
