Jaime Diaz, age 46, of 12 Whitney Street, Nashua

NASHUA — A 46-year-old man identified by police as Jaime Diaz, of 12 Whitney St., was held in jail overnight pending arraignment following his arrest Sunday night on domestic violence charges, one of which alleges he tried to stab another person with a box cutter.

Police took Diaz into custody around 10 p.m., about an hour after officers were called to a local residence to investigate a domestic disturbance.

Responding officers were told that Diaz allegedly threatened, and attempted to stab, a person known to him with a box cutter, police said.

Members of the department’s Criminal Investigation Division furthered the investigation, which led to Diaz being charged with one count each of domestic violence-related attempted first degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class A felony, and domestic violence — criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony.

Police didn’t indicate whether anyone was injured in the alleged disturbance.

They did say that Diaz was held on preventive detention pending Monday’s scheduled arraignment in Superior Court.

Police ask anyone who may have any additional information regarding the incident to contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
