Early morning fire fills Nashua Mall Starbucks with smoke
NASHUA — Smoke from a fire that officials say broke out under a counter at Starbucks’ 5 Gusabel Ave. location triggered the building’s alarm system, alerting firefighters who were able to quell the small fire before it spread.
Crews were called at 4:40 a.m. Saturday to the coffee shop, and upon arrival found the building full of smoke, according to Nashua Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Glen MacDonald.
A ladder company crew forced entry into the building, at which time the Engine 5 crew, manned with a 1 3/4-inch hoseline, located and doused the fire.
Once the fire was out, crews ventilated the building, noting that smoke damage was visible throughout.
No injuries were reported, MacDonald said.
He said a representative of the city Board of Health was called to the scene.
A member of the city Fire Marshal’s office is conducting the investigation into the cause of the blaze, MacDonald added.
It wasn’t immediately known whether the shop has since reopened or still undergoing cleanup operations.
