HUDSON — An unidentified bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and left lying in the road with serious injuries near the corner of Ferry and Buswell streets Tuesday night, police said.
When officers and first responders arrived at the scene at about 9 p.m., witnesses told them they found the bicyclist and the bicycle still in the road and that the vehicle had fled the scene, according to police.
Hudson Fire Department paramedics administered emergency treatment to the injured person, then transported him or her to St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. The person was later transferred to Boston Medical Center for further treatment, police said.
Meanwhile, as officers investigated the incident, a call came in to headquarters reporting a crash had taken place on Musquash Road, in which a pickup truck struck and snapped a utility pole and sustained heavy damage to its front end.
Arriving officers made contact with the driver, who they identified as Leah Haselton, 45, of Merrimack. After further investigation, officers determined that Haselton was also allegedly involved in the earlier crash that seriously injured the bicyclist on Ferry Street.

The officers at that point took Haselton into custody, charging her with one count each of driving while intoxicated — impairment, a Class B misdemeanor; aggravated driving while intoxicated — collision with serious injury, a Class B felony; conduct after an accident — death or injury resulting, Class B felony; conduct after an accident, Class A misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled drug, Class B felony.
Haselton was booked on the charges and ordered held on preventive detention. She was arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court in Nashua, but her court file isn’t clear as to whether she remained in jail or was released on bail.
A dispositional conference is scheduled for Dec. 21 in the Nashua court.
