MANCHESTER — State police are seeking the driver of a truck that shed an aluminum extension ladder while traveling south on I-93 and I-293 split over the weekend, causing a crash that seriously injured a Milford motorcyclist.

Martin J. Peshka III, 66, lost control of his 2020 Harley Davidson after it struck the ladder, according to police. He was tossed from the motorcycle, which came to rest in the high-speed lane, and first responders located Peshka nearby suffering from injuries that police described as serious, but not life-threatening.

He was treated at the scene then transported to the Elliot Hospital, police added.

The driver of the truck did not stop, police said. Whether the driver was aware the ladder fell from the truck is unknown and is part of the investigation.

A photo of the damaged ladder provided by police shows the name “Nathan” written in black marker on the inside of the frame.

Through the initial investigation, police said, it appears that the ladder “landed in a manner that blocked several of the southbound lanes” of the interstate.

As the investigation continues, police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have additional information about it, to contact Trooper Matthew Wolak at matthew.t.wolak@dos.nh.gov or 223-3787.
