Officers on patrol alerted to man with ‘serious’ gunshot wound

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Sep 27, 2021

MANCHESTER — People flagged down officers on patrol late Saturday night in the area of Elm and Lowell streets, directing them to an alley behind Cheers and Beers where a man was suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

Investigators believe the man, age 29, was shot inside the establishment following an argument, the nature of which police didn’t describe.

The officers summoned medical personnel and called for additional officers to the scene, police said.

They provided emergency medical treatment to the man until the ambulance arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, police said.

Meanwhile, the backup officers began securing the area, police said. They also called in detectives with the department’s Investigative Division to further the investigation, which is active and ongoing, police added.

They ask anyone with any information to contact the department at 668-8711. Information can be provided anonymously through the department’s CrimeLine, by calling 624-4040.

Also, information can be submitted by going to www.manchestercrimeline.org and downloading the secure “submit a tip” app, which is available for both iPhone and android devices.

Police also remind residents that cash rewards are available for information that leads to an arrest.
