Series of new theft-related charges filed against Nashua man initially arrested in March

NASHUA — Detectives who earlier this month initiated an investigation into the theft of a vehicle from a local business soon developed information that led them to two suspects — one of whom had also been named a suspect in a theft case back in March, police said.

David Vega, 37, who lists no fixed address, is now facing numerous charges accusing him of, among other offenses, stealing more than $1,500 in painting supplies and using someone else’s identity to rent a car.

Vega, who has a lengthy record of arrests and at least two convictions, mainly on theft and robbery-related allegations, was taken into custody over the weekend, along with Melissa Guyer, 34, also of no fixed address, police said.

Guyer was charged with three counts of theft, one of which is a Class A felony, while the other two are Class A misdemeanors.

She was booked on the charges and later released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which will take place on a date not yet determined, police said.

As for Vega, the charges stemming from the two investigations include two counts of theft and one count of identity fraud, all Class A felonies; one count each of theft — two prior convictions, and theft of mislaid property — two prior convictions, both Class B felonies.

Vega was booked then held in jail pending Monday’s Superior Court arraignment. According to his case summary, bail was set at $500 cash, but it doesn’t indicate whether Vega posted bail or remains incarcerated.

Police asks that anyone with any additional information regarding this incident to contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
