NASHUA – U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, along with U.S. Rep Chris Pappas and local officials will cut the ribbon on Granite State Manufacturing’s Nashua facility expansion today.

A critical component of New Hampshire’s defense industrial base, GSM systems play an important role in the construction, operations and maintenance of the U.S. Navy’s submarine fleet. The facility expansion will strengthen GSM and New Hampshire’s role in support the United States’ national defense, while creating new jobs.

The ribbon cutting is set to start at 11:30 a.m.

In addition, at 10a.m., Shaheen will participate in the New Hampshire Department of Transportation’s I-93 rededication ceremony in honor of Granite State astronaut Alan Shepard. As one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts, the first American to fly in space and the fifth man to ever walk on the moon as the commander of Apollo 11, Shepard would become the foremost pioneer of American space exploration. Shepard hailed from Derry and was a Pinkerton graduate.

Granite State Manufacturing is located at 164 Burke St.
