Hassan to visit Nashua today

By Staff | Sep 7, 2021

SALEM – U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan will visit the ongoing construction efforts at Salem Depot intersection at Broadway and Main Street to highlight the urgent need for infrastructure investments in New Hampshire. The project, which aims in part to expand the intersection in order to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety, is set to be complete this fall. Senator Hassan was part of the bipartisan group that worked to negotiate and pass through the Senate a once-in-a-generation infrastructure package that would provide historic investments to repair and modernize the country’s transportation infrastructure.

The Senator will be joined by New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials and local leaders who will speak about the importance of receiving new federal funding to help strengthen public infrastructure in Salem and across the state.

Later, Hassan will visit Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream in Nashua, a veteran-owned business that was founded after the owners were inspired by seeing the Sub Zero Ice Cream product on ABC’s Shark Tank. The Senator will speak with the owners of the shop, Rita and Mark McCabe, about their work to integrate their business in the community by bringing the science of liquid nitrogen to schools.

Hassan will also visit St. Joseph Hospital’s new Senior Behavioral Health Unit in Nashua to discuss the importance of expanding access to mental and behavioral health resources, particularly for older Granite Staters. The Senior Behavioral Health Unit is designed to treat adults 65 and older who are experiencing psychiatric symptoms and provide wraparound support to help them manage their mental health challenges.

Earlier this year, Hassan joined the rest of the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation in announcing that St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua received more than $12.5 million in federal funding from COVID-19 relief packages that Senator Hassan helped pass into law. Senator Hassan also joined in announcing that St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua received $80,000 under the Nonprofit Security Grant Program.
