Nashua woman killed, Litchfield man injured in Bedford crash

By Staff | Aug 29, 2021

BEDFORD — A Nashua woman was fatally injured and her passenger sustained less serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday on Route 293, according to state police.

Brianna E. Sullivan, 36, the driver of the 2016 GMC Terrain, and Julio A. Lopez, 36, of Litchfield, were both unconscious when first-arriving troopers reached the scene, police said.

The troopers rendered aid to Sullivan and Lopez until emergency medical services personnel arrived.

Both were rushed to Elliot Hospital in Manchester, where Sullivan was pronounced deceased a short time later, police said. Lopez was treated for injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, police added.

The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. near mile marker 4.4 on the northbound side of Route 293 at the Bedford-Manchester line, police said.

A preliminary investigation showed the GMC had crashed into the “nose portion” of a guardrail on the right side of the highway, then veered off to the left and struck a concrete Jersey barrier, according to Troop B Lt. Bryan Trask.

He said that while “all aspects of the crash are under investigation, preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and distracted driving” were factors in the cause of the crash.

The left travel lane of the highway was closed for around two hours as the scene was processed.

State police were assisted by Bedford fire and rescue teams and New Hampshire Department of Transportation employees.

Police ask that anyone with information pertaining to the incident contact Trooper Tyler Duhamel at the New Hampshire State Police-Troop B Barracks at 223-3849 or tyler.j.duhamel@dos.nh.gov.
