Joseph Pelletier, 53, of Pelham Street, Nashua

NASHUA — A local man was jailed overnight pending arraignment following his arrest on one felony and four misdemeanor charges accusing him of assaulting a woman.

Police say Joseph Pelletier, 53, of 31 Pelham St., knows the woman he is accused of assaulting late last week.

Detectives with the department’s Special Investigations Division furthered an investigation that began when uniformed officers took a report regarding a domestic assault, police said.

Officers arrested Pelletier around 1 a.m. the following day, charging him with one count of second-degree assault — domestic violence, a Class B felony, along with four counts of domestic violence — simple assault, all Class A misdemeanors.

Pelletier was booked on the charges and held on preventive detention pending arraignment, which was scheduled for late last week.

No information was immediately available regarding whether the arraignment took place as scheduled, and if so, what Pelletier’s current bail status is.
