Michael Aldieri, 43, of Hinsdale

HINSDALE — Michael Aldieri, the 43-year-old resident of Hinsdale who had been the subject of a missing persons search since mid-July, has been identified as the person whose body was discovered in the Connecticut River in the north-central Massachusetts town of Northfield.

Officials said Aldieri’s body was spotted by a bicyclist crossing the Route 10 bridge over the Connecticut River. Hinsdale and Northfield are about seven miles apart on either side of the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border.

Massachusetts State Police attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office as well as police and firefighters from Northfield and police from Gill responded to the scene, where they recovered the body near the Northfield Mount Hermon boathouse on Hayfields Road in Gill.

Representatives of the District Attorney’s Office said no foul play is suspected, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined.

The discovery of Aldieri’s body marks the fourth time in just over two months that bodies were recovered from the Connecticut River in Franklin or Hampshire (Massachusetts) counties.

Bodies were discovered in the Connecticut River near Hadley on May 21 and May 26, and near the French King Bridge on July 3.

The cases are not believed to be related, and officials have said they are not considered suspicious, and there’s no evidence of foul play.
