Litchfield man, 63, killed in crash involving motorcycle and two SUVs
HOOKSETT – The fatal crash over the weekend involving a late-model Harley-Davidson trike and two SUVs claimed the life of Litchfield resident Joseph Romano, police said.
Romano, 63, was reportedly thrown off the trike, which is a 3-wheeled motorcycle, when it collided with a Jeep Liberty on West River Road at the intersection of Cross Road around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police said the Liberty, driven by Leena Aly, 23, of Bow, was traveling south on West River Road, which is Route 3A, when it collided nearly head-on with a northbound Chevy Equinox operated by Dustin Carroll-Burr, 18, of Belmont.
Romano’s trike then struck the Liberty, and the impact tossed him from the trike and onto the roadway.
Police said several passersby who stopped at the scene were assisting the drivers, including performing CPR on Romano.
Aly and Carroll-Burr, along with a passenger in Carroll-Burr’s vehicle, sustained what appeared to be minor injuries, and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Romano was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, police said.
Police closed a section of West River Road for several hours to allow members of the Hooksett police Accident Reconstruction Team to conduct their on-scene investigation.
Hooksett firefighters and officers from neighboring Bow assisted at the scene.
