Avard releases statement on net metering legislation
CONCORD – Net metering in New Hampshire got a big boost today after members of a House and Senate committee of conference voted on a bi-partisan basis to combine two bills (SB109 and HB315) and move the energy-saving legislation forward. Senator Kevin Avard (R-Nashua), prime sponsor of SB109 and a long-time proponent of the legislation issued the following statement:
“After discussing the issue for years, I am delighted that we have finally reached an agreement allowing cities and towns to generate their own electricity which will lower the cost of energy. High energy costs are a real burden on New Hampshire citizens and businesses, whether they are large or small. They are also a barrier to new industry moving into our state, bringing with them more jobs and opportunities. The benefits of net metering will mean a real win for New Hampshire consumers.”
