NASHUA – The city Zoning Board of Adjustment has denied, by a 5-0 vote, a request by the large-scale developer and builder Flatley Company for a variance that would allow it to move forward with plans to construct an apartment and townhouse complex on Innovative Way.

Members at an April meeting cited several reasons for the denial, among them their finding that such a project would have a negative effect on property values, as well as a “negative impact on surrounding property values,” according to the board’s report.

The location of the proposed residential complex, which calls for 266 apartments and 28 townhouses, is the same area where Flatley officials broke ground in December for a series of research and development buildings, one of which was under construction at the time.
