Kuster tours Merrimack mass vaccination clinic

By Staff | Apr 25, 2021

MERRIMACK – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) toured a mass vaccination site in Merrimack, made possible by a public-private partnership between Fidelity Investments and the Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services, Greater Nashua Public Health Network. During the tour, Kuster spoke with public health officials about the impact of her work in Congress, the federal pandemic response and the efficacy and safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

The vaccination clinic is a follow-up to an earlier clinic also hosted by Fidelity Investments in Merrimack in partnership with the Greater Nashua Public Health Network. The clinic has vaccinated more than 2,500 school and child care workers who live in Nashua and the 12 towns that comprise the Public Health Network.

“Safe, effective COVID-19 vaccines continue to be the most efficient way to end this pandemic, and getting shots into arms is crucial to crushing this virus and getting one step ahead,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “It was great to visit the Fidelity Investments and Greater Nashua Public Health Network vaccination clinic today to see first-hand how well public-private partnerships can help stop the spread. New Hampshire is leading the nation in vaccination efforts thanks to the leadership, dedication, and hard work of Granite Staters, as well as the Biden-Harris administration’s successful efforts to boost vaccine production and distribution. I will continue working in Congress to ensure our communities have the support they need to recover and rebuild from this crisis.”

“Our partnership with Fidelity Investments has enabled our organization to maximize our COVID-19 vaccination efforts in Greater Nashua. This weekend’s mass vaccination clinic delivers the vital second-dose of the Moderna vaccine to over 2,000 teachers, school staff, child care providers, youth camp staff, and individuals 50 years of age and older. We are immensely grateful to this weekend’s clinic staff, which includes a large number of volunteers.” said Michael Apollo, Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at the Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services, Greater Nashua Public Health Network. “Even after vaccination, we want to remind our community that it is important for everyone to continue to be vigilant and practice public health recommendations to ensure maximum protection against COVID-19.”

“Fidelity Investments believes in the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines and that having as many of our associates vaccinated as possible is the best path to maximize safety for our associates, customers, vendors, visitors, our families, and the community,” said Joe Murray, vice president of public affairs for Fidelity Investments. “We are honored to assist the Greater Nashua Public Health Network in distributing the vaccine in our region.”

Kuster has led critical efforts in Congress to ensure efficient and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Her Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act would improve and expand real-time communication between state and federal governments, as well as public and private health care providers, to ensure vaccines are being administered effectively and efficiently across all states and territories. This year, Kuster also introduced the Coronavirus Vaccine and Therapeutic Development Act to ensure that the United States will be able to mass-produce and administer COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics quickly and efficiently. Funding modeled after both of these bills is included in the American Rescue Plan Act.
