Hollis man, 50, charged with possessing, distributing child sexual abuse images

Richard E. Charity, 50, of Hollis

HOLLIS – Police say Hollis resident Richard E. Charity has turned himself in late last week, several days after investigators issued a warrant for his arrest on charges that accuse him of possessing, and distributing, child pornography, or child sexual abuse images.

Police said a team of investigators consisting of Hollis, Amherst and Nashua detectives, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office and the N.H. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, executed a search warrant on a Hollis residence, the address of which wasn’t provided.

The search, conducted on Feb. 11, resulted in the seizure of “several electronic devices,” which, police said, concluded a three-month investigation into allegations regarding child pornography.

Police didn’t say whether Charity owns, or lives at, the residence that investigators searched in February.

They did say they issued the warrant for Charity’s arrest on April 9, and Charity turned himself in four days later.

Also, it’s not clear if Charity is charged with one count each of possession of child sexual abuse images and distribution of child sexual abuse images, or if there are additional counts of one or both of the charges.

After turning himself in, Charity was booked on the charges and later released on $750 cash or surety.

He is scheduled for arraignment at 1 p.m. May 27 at Hillsborough County Superior Court south in Nashua.

Police remind residents that anyone with any information regarding the possession, distribution or manufacture of child sexual abuse images is urged to contact police detective Kurt Thompson at 465-7637, or call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678.

Residents can also report the information online at www.report.cybertip.org.
