Motorist allegedly struck FedEx driver with his vehicle following argument over parking

Derek Climo, age 39, of Manchester.
MANCHESTER – A local man is facing a felony first-degree assault charge in the wake of an argument that erupted Sunday morning over a FedEx driver’s choice of parking spots, police said.
Arrested shortly after the incident was Derek Climo, 39, of Manchester, after officers called to the scene determined he allegedly struck the FedEx driver in the leg with his vehicle while driving away, according to police.
Police didn’t specify the extent of the FedEx driver’s injuries, but indications are they were minor. It’s not known if he needed to seek medical treatment.
Police said officers were notified around 11 a.m. of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Orange and Pine streets, a residential area a couple of blocks east of Elm Street.
The officers determined that the FedEx driver, whom police didn’t identify, was in the process of delivering packages when another driver, later identified as Climo, confronted him for allegedly parking his truck in such a way that it blocked the street, police said.
They said that as the argument escalated, both drivers took pictures of each other’s vehicles. The FedEx driver then called 911, police said, and was standing in the road when Climo started to drive off and allegedly struck him in the leg.
Police said officers “were able to make contact” with Climo and took him into custody on the assault charge.
No information was given regarding Climo’s bail status or when he will be arraigned on the charge.
