Vanessa Swett, 32, of 82 Treaty Court, Fremont

MERRIMACK – A call to police late the night of March 18 regarding a woman who allegedly showed signs of impairment led to the arrest of 32-year-old Vanessa Swett, a resident of 82 Treaty Court in Fremont, police said.

Officers who responded to a 7-Eleven in town to check out a report of “a woman possibly under the influence” located the woman, whom they identified as Swett, and in speaking with her allegedly “observed possible signs of impairment indicative of drug use,” according to police.

Upon further investigation, police said, the officers determined that Swett was allegedly under the influence of drugs, and arrested her for operating under the influence of drugs.

Police said the officers ran a records check on Swett, which showed that her license and her registration were under suspension.

One more charge, a felony, would be added during the booking process, when officers allegedly found several baggies inside Swett’s purse that contained “a powder-like substance consistent with the drug heroin,” police said.

Once the booking process was complete, Swett was released on personal recognizance bail pending her arraignment, a date for which had yet to be determined.
