Merrimack police apprehend suspect wanted in Nashua; charges filed by both departments

Anthony Clark, 24, of 728 Main St, Manchester

MERRIMACK – A Manchester man with prior arrests in Nashua and Merrimack was taken into custody again this week, charged this time with two counts of felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of narcotic drugs with intent to distribute, according to police.

Anthony Clark, 24, of 728 Main St., was apprehended Monday afternoon without incident at a Merrimack hotel, where police learned he had been staying.

Merrimack police in turn learned from Nashua authorities that they had a warrant out for Clark’s arrest on a felony count of felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, which turned out to be a fully-loaded 9mm handgun, police said.

A search of Clark’s person turned up a quantity of narcotics, Merrimack police said, adding that the drugs “were packaged in such a way as to lead officers to believe that (Clark) had intent to distribute the drugs.”

They charged Clark with the weapon-possession and drug offenses, and after booking him turned him over to Nashua police, who filed the other felon in possession of a dangerous weapon charge against him.

At a Superior Court arraignment Tuesday, Clark was ordered held on preventive detention, and a dispositional conference was scheduled for May 18.

Clark has two other cases on file in Superior Court, one from 2016 in which he was charged with two counts each of robbery and violation of probation or parole, and another from 2018, when he was charged with one count of sale, transport or manufacture of a controlled drug.

The records show he entered plea agreements in both cases. One of the robbery charges in the 2016 case was dropped, and the agreements in both cases involved jail sentences, all of which were either suspended or deferred, according to the case files.
